Gul Ahmed’s roots go back to the early 1900s, when the family began trading textiles in the subcontinent, well before Pakistan existed as a country. The group formally entered manufacturing in 1953 with Gul Ahmed Textile Mills, and by 1970 was listed on what’s now the Pakistan Stock Exchange.

That century-long manufacturing history sits behind the fashion label: Gul Ahmed is a fully vertically integrated textile producer, spinning, weaving, dyeing, and stitching its own fabric before it ever reaches a collection. Its “Ideas by Gul Ahmed” retail chain, launched in 2003, has grown into one of Pakistan’s largest lifestyle and fashion retailers.
