Byhand was founded in 2017 in Kochi by Rajendra Prasad, an electrical engineer with a long-standing interest in handloom craft. Years of work abroad, including over a decade in Nigeria, took him away from it, until travels through Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Kolkata reconnected him with Indian craft traditions and brought him home to start Byhand.

Byhand works in Ajrakh, Kalamkari, and Kerala’s own Chendamangalam handloom, using natural dyes and biodegradable fabrics, and even turns leftover fabric remnants into new pieces rather than letting them go to waste.
