Biba
Biba started in 1988 when Meena Bindra, working from her home in Delhi, took an 8,000 rupee loan to launch what became India’s first true ethnic wear brand. The name comes from a Punjabi word for a pretty young woman, and the brand built its identity on making everyday Indian ethnic wear more accessible, well before organised retail existed in the category.
Biba has since grown into one of India’s largest ethnic wear labels, with hundreds of stores nationwide and, in 2013, the distinction of being the first Indian ethnic wear company to receive foreign private equity investment. On SASTY, you can browse Biba’s collection and see exactly how it will look on you.
