Sheetal Batra launched her eponymous label in 2002 from a small store inside her own home in New Delhi, after years of designing for herself and hearing the compliments pile up. The spark, by her own account, was a traditional Kashmiri shawl gifted to her by her mother, which set her on a path to reviving Kashmiri Tilla embroidery for a wider audience.

Nearly two decades on, the brand is known for a single guiding question Sheetal asks of every design: “Can this be worn 25 years later by the bride’s daughter?” That philosophy has carried through collections like Ruhaniyat, shown at Bombay Times Fashion Week 2024, and heritage lines like Naaz and Inaayat.
